In 1798 the explorers Bass and Flinders were dispatched to 'Van Diemen's Land' to ascertain if it was an island or not. They sailed with a crew of 8 in HM colonial Sloop Norfolk right into the Tamar River and anchored off what is now George Town. In 1998 Bern Cuthbertson in the
|
replica Norfolk re-enacted the Bass and Flinders journey. The Bass and Flinders Centre is now home of the Norfolk and proudly displays her and other maritime vessels and artefacts for all to view.
The Bass and Flinders Centre just one of over 60 attractions that make up the sightseeing pass known as the See Tasmania Smartvisit Card. This smartcard allows you entry and special discounted offers to this attraction and many more. |
